CEREC
The CEREC, a computerized milling system, will image, design, and mill durable and natural-looking ceramic restorations in one appointment in little over one hour! The advantages include:
- Attractive tooth color
- Preserve more of natural tooth structure
- Bonding actually strengthens the tooth
- Metal-free: no metallic taste!
- No second visit!
- No impressions!
- No temporaries!
After the local anesthetic, the tooth is prepared by removing old filling material and decay. Then an optical image is recorded by a special TV camera that records the tooth's details in three dimension. The image appears on the screen and the restorations is designed. Then a solid block of dental porcelain ceramic is placed in the milling chamber and the restoration is milled. The ceramic restoration is then bonded to the tooth, the bite adjusted, and polished. The result is a ceramic restoration that is conservative (maintains more natural tooth structure), durable (same hardness as enamel), beautiful, and highly compatible with the body.
